Walking in Orkney
Route: The Old Man of Hoy from Rackwick
Date walked: 28/06/2018
Took the ferry from Houghton to Lyness. This meant we had the car and could drive to Radwick.
The path is signposted and obvious although we managed to miss it and as a result we had a steep heathery ascent which would have been unpleasant in bad weather. When we eventually met the path it was easy going to the Old man with great views of this iconic sea stack.
We returned following the path the whole way to the car, which made for a much easier journey.
Well worth doing particularly in good weather. Bring binoculars since there are numerous chances to sight sea birds along the way.
