Adventure

Date walked: 15/10/2017

Time taken: 6 hours

Went on an epic hike this weekend, an adventure if you will! We initially set out to climb Ben lui but ended up not being able to find it and so continued on, driving aimlessly, trying to decide what to do! Tired of driving, we decided to find anywhere to park and get out and climb something! So, we eyed the nicest hill we could see and went after it, first going through about the densest forest I’ve been through! I felt as though I was fighting a forest full of Whomping willows (Harry potter fans will understand lol). Having to crawl on our hands and knees for much of it, eventually, we made our way out and could see the hill in the near distance! From the distance, it looked as though it wouldn’t take too long, how wrong we were! The terrain was so arduous and technical that where it would normally take an hour to cover, it took three! So, we labored on, literally dragging ourselves up to the summit! I’ve been doing these sorts of hikes since I was about 11 and so it’s not anything crazy to me, challenging but not crazy! Katy has never done anything like this and although she struggled she persevered and pushed through it, showing the character that she so obviously has! I know with almost certainty that most people I know or have ever known would either have given up and turned back or simply lacked the dexterity and toughness to complete it! Maybe we’re both just crazy, yeah probably that! In summary, we went up a random hill, through several hours of hellish terrain- had ups and downs and in hindsight, can’t wait to do it again!
