Day 3 of my trip up north and after 2 bleak days with no views on Ben Wyvis and Fionn Bheinn it was Corbett time.
Weather was to be rain all day and windy
I told myself if it was peeing down I ain't going near a hill today after the previous 2 days with no views. Culloden was plan B.
Plan B wasn't called for
Parked up past the last house where there's a walkers/ cyclists welcome noticeboard at the start of the hill. There is a kinda newish type path (if you can call it that) leading up. Better off on the wet grass/ heather/ moss.
You can see the 1st point to aim for which looks high and steep from down below - Creag Ruadh
Steep pathless pull up to this one.
Relief getting on to the ridgeline and a good wee "path" is picked up. Looked back and saw the cairn on Creag Ruadh but my path was forward. Great ridgeline and it truly felt like I was on a good high Munro ridge , if that makes sense.
Sgurr a'Mhuilinn is over on the right and it does look pointy from here but the further you go along it turns into a big lump.
Meallan nan Uan pokes it's head out from behind the wee top in front.
Upped the pace along the ridge and was soon on the summit.
The rain came but there was no wind and if didn't obscure any views which were great all round.
Had a big drive ahead today so it was down to the rocky wee bump of Carnan Fuar and a wee skirt round and on to the slopes of Sgurr a'Mhuilinn. At this point i made the call to get the waterproof trousers on. Should have done it on the summit earlier, but, hey no.
The 2 "Sgurr" tops along the way look quite impressive but not today.
On up and round to the cairn on the summit. My usual ritual of trying to put a flattish pointy boulder on top of the cairn for a pic. Quick bite to eat and it was off along the wide ridge.
Keep going till there is a considerable drop.
At this point you can make out a couple of lighter grassy areas down below to aim for. It's also at this point to not venture too far to your right into the rocks/craggy outcrops or you could get into a bit of bother.
Down to the boggy floor and through the peat hags. Eventually picked up a kinda deer path leading to the stream. Totally up to you when to cross the stream - it's not too wide up here.
Across the stream up and round and back on my descent route. Car in view :D
Again I followed the churned up path but veered off and headed to the fenceline and noticeboard again.
Great pair of hills today- enjoyed it.

And now it was south to the big city again.

Just one wee shout out to the lads I met in forest way lodge- nice to meet the 4 lads from Nottingham and to Alan and Iain ( the owner). I'll be back
