Ballachulish duo

Grahams: Meall Mor (Glencoe), Sgorr a'Choise

Date walked: 15/03/2020

Time taken: 6.5 hours

Distance: 16.5km

Ascent: 1100m

Plan A go to ballachulish
Weather wasnt looking too great, so
Plan B go up Ben Ledi again
Plan C Go to Embra and Arthur's seat

Had another look at the weather last night and although windy, it wouldn't rain all day.
Plan A back on and it paid off

On up past the school and onto a good wee path, then the rain came on- big time. Time for the waterproofs.
On along to the cairn and a wee path leading down to the stream ( raging torrent)

Seriously contemplated going back but persevered and managed to get across about 200m upstream past the cairn. On upwards - go left or right of the crags up ahead.
I went left and up to the ridgeline where a wee path leads onwards and upwards to the summit.

Had to take care as well coming off the summit. Snow was covering a few crags and large boulders. Good old bum slide paid off again. Down to the fence and over the large stile.

A fair amount of ascent is lost here down to the bealach. Think the lowest point was about 330m - which meant another 340 to get up to the summit of Meall Mor.. Great views all round, from Sgor na h-ulaidh to bidean to Aonach eagach and the pap and round to Ballachulish and beyond.

On down and round the wee corniced corrie.

The mast your heading for is in view. Down to the gate at the fence and the fun begins.

Through the deforestation that's been left behind.
Hat off to the estate for the gate and stile- hat back on for the mess left behind.
Just before the mast there's a fence that needs crossing, a shiny new fence and shiny new barbs. Got over, got stuck, untangled myself gingerly and headed down. Its make you're own way down any which way you can.
I ended up at the top of the quarrie - dont get too close to the edge.
Found a path leading down and into the quarry and had a wander round before exiting near the visitor centre.

Quite a bit of ascent for 2 grahams. 2 good Grahams and a decent walk which has everything

Ascent - estimate
