Bring a machete

Route: Drummuir Castle Estate and Lochpark

Date walked: 11/07/2020

Distance: 7.75km

The signs at the start of this route say that these paths are accessible - they lie. Many of the marked paths are overgrown with nettles. Route markers aren't visibly placed either. What may have once been small lochs/ponds on the way have long been consumed by marsh, and are as scenic as you'd expect ditches with jetties with laminated paper information signs to be. In fairness, my nettle-bitten friend and I did not make it to the loch park section of the route - we were too traumatised by the overgrowth around the Drummuir estate - but we expected nice views of the castle. However, the path steers well away from the castle, behind trees. The churchyard was interesting and well kept at least.
