Loch Lee & Falls of Unich

Route: Loch Lee and waterfalls circuit, Glen Esk

Date walked: 11/08/2020

Time taken: 5 hours

Distance: 16km

Ascent: 469m

Lightning was forecast early pm so set off around 8:45am. Not a soul in sight, got parked no problem, only one other vehicle, no parking machine.
Lovely walk with the easy to follow track, once at the waterfall had to pay attention to route and where I stepped. The sun made it a tough climb as not a breath of wind until I crossed the bridge and got higher, saw my first Adder here.
The path at the top is not clear and fairly boggy/marshy however a little navigation and you reach the view you’ve been waiting for, Loch Lee. The path continues to be unclear/boggy/marshy however once you get round the summit you can’t steer wrong from the track.
The views to the left of where you’ve just walked are superb! Once at the bottom, the bridge to cross the large stream is out of action however two very manageable stepping stones and you’re over and back to heading homeward.
