Beinn Lubhean and Beinn Ime

Munros: Beinn Ìme
Corbetts: Beinn Luibhean

Date walked: 07/01/2024

Time taken: 6 hours

Distance: 15km

Ascent: 1200m

With a high over most of the country it looked like the perfect weekend to venture out. I wanted to do Beinn Lubhean as rthe closest Corbet I had not climbed. Ruairdh my son in law an company for the day was keen like me to extend the day and take in Beinn Ime. We set of from a small parking area off the north side of the A83 immediately below the bridge over the Croe Water. we began the walk by heading through the gate at the back of the parking area, and crossing the metal bridge over the burn.

From here a path leads round to the left and then curves back to the right to climb up through an old gateway and up alongside a fence on your right and a higher deer fence to the left. Continue up the path as it runs high above the burn. further up we passed through a gate, we both found it tuff going and a bit of a trudge, it was a long time before we had the sun on us but of course that made us even warmer. It took us a couple of hours to reach the top but the views all round were amazing. We sat and had a cuppa and spotted people on Beinn Ime, Narnain, the Cobbler, great views out west down towards Arran on and on it went.

After a break we had cooled down quickly and were getting cold we headed towards Beinn Ime this turned out more straight forward and easier than I thought. some very hard snow in places made the going easier but we had to be careful we did not really need crampons and most other walkers had managed without them as well. We got to the top of Ime at 1am and had a nice break and good look round, Ben Lui, Lomond, Nevis could all been seen and many more I was not sure about.
it was then time to head back to the car and home, a memorable day so glad we made the effort
