After reading bods report on these hills it spurred me onto getting my pics up as it was such a glorious day of sunshine. I managed to get parked opposite the start point instead of parking next to the forest. Another small car came in behind me but there was no room as there was another 4x4 already there, the guy gave me a kindly wave and on he went to the forest parking.
Kitted and booted by 8am, just as i was about to cross the road 3 lads appeared - The lads that tried to park beside me. They asked where i was heading, A'Chralaig / MF-C I told them, so were they and asked if i would like to join them. Pleasantries exchanged off we went with clouds of midges attacking us. The lads were from Blackburn and up for the bank holiday weekend, staying at the shiel youth hostel.
The weather to start with was fine with a lot of low clag but the forecast was for all that to burn off. As we ascended up very wet long grass the clag started to disappear, we made the 1st summit after 2 hours and the views were immense. Off to MF-C we met 4 other lads who were coming in the opposite direction and told us of the bog-fest that awaited us on the route out . We took the by pass paths to avoid scrambling over the rocky bits, the views all round were some of the best views i have seen.
After a bit of lunch at the summit we headed back down to the bog fest. The phrase MAN DOWN was roared more than once, mud up to our necks Arrived back at our cars 7 hours later and a good day had by one and all. Enjoy the pics....
