Beinn Eich and Doune Hill - in the Driech
Route: Doune Hill and Beinn Eich, from Luss
Fionas: Beinn Eich, Doune Hill
Date walked: 15/03/2017
Time taken: 5 hours
Distance: 15km
Ascent: 938m
Some enforced time off work has meant that I can find the time to focus on some hill walking as part of my recovery.
So Rosie and Charlie (the Parson Russell Terriers with 4-Leg drive) set off to get a couple more Graham ticks.
The weather wasn't great but with a bit effort we managed the 2 hills.
Navigation up to Beinn Eich even in the mist is straightforward (the path starts before Edentaggart not after as shown on the OS map). From the summit of Beinn Eich paths become less distinct but it is generally clear which way to go (even in the mist).
The descent from Doune Hill is a bit of challenge with lots of bog and grass tussocks but this is the same for most of the Luss hills in my experience. The added challenge of 16 kg of dog pulling in 2 directions made for some entertaining bum slides!
The path through Glen Mollochan is again very indistinct until you pick up the track section and was a bit of a slog.
A great walk in wet conditions and nice to be returning to the hillside and mental recovery!
