First Munro.

Munros: Beinn Dòrain

Date walked: 04/03/2015

Time taken: 5 hours

First ever Munro. Not sure why we decided to do it in winter but I'm so pleased we did, it gave me the winter mountain bug.
Start point was the Bridge of Orchy, followed Allt Coire an Dothaidh to the bealach then turned right to follow the ridge. It was at this point the weather changed from a wonderful sunny winter day to something I now realise is more usual Scottish winter mountain weather. The false summit was a bit heartbreaking as the true summit appeared to be miles away in the poor visibility. The last stretch was a bit sketchy due to some heavy cornicing but this was carefully avoided. The weather cleared for a brief moment at the summit which led to spectacular views and genuine tears of accomplishment and pleasure. The return journey followed the same route but with big grins and lots of photographs.
