Corgarff to Tomintoul via Inchrory
Date walked: 02/09/2022
Distance: 22km
Ascent: 150m
This is another surprising omission from Walk Highlands, as it uses an old drove road before joining the Strath Avon road already described as part of a long circuit from Tomintoul.
Start at the car park for Corgarff Castle, and follow the private road west past Delnadamph, up to the bothy at Inchmore and then follow the obvious track to the high point at StrĂ²n na Crois Araich, where the view west towards Ben Avon and the Cairngorms comes into view. Descend past Lagganauld into Strath Avon at Inchrory, and follow the road down the strath to Tomintoul.
The going is dry and firm all the way, apart from a couple of minor fords. There's no waymarking but the track is really easy to follow. It's about 100 metres of very gentle uphill from Corgarff to the high point, and there are uphill sections as you get close to Tomintoul which can feel a little like hard work at the end of a long day, but it's a really easy walk with splendid views.
It's either a two-car job, or you need to get a taxi or a lift from Tomintoul to Corgarff as there's no public transport.
