A bit of a disappointment
Route: Keppoch Clearance Village, near Torrin
Date walked: 09/04/2024
Time taken: 3 hours
Distance: 6.5km
This would be a good walk on a dry day if looking for some exercise.
Unfortunately for us, it started raining the minute we started walking and apart from a couple of 5minute breaks it remained heavy driving rain throughout the walk.
The path is easy to follow and not very taxing other than being careful not to slip / step in a bog.
There is the potential for good views but the clouds didn’t clear enough for us to get the benefit.
Native trees are being grown but it will take about 10-20 years before they make any impact, currently they are about the same height as their plastic tubing supports.
We reached Keppoch clearance village just before the road. There are the remains of about 3 houses but really just piles of stones, surrounded by a fence. It is possible to enter this area.
We returned via the road (passed by about 10 cars, minibuses, bin lorry & campervan), it was easier due to the weather. We arrived back at the car park, soaked to the skin.
