Ben Bhraggie & Beinn Lunndaidh
Sub 2000s: Beinn Lunndaidh
Date walked: 12/02/2024
Time taken: 3.75 hours
Distance: 8km
Ascent: 500m
Parked in the Fountain Road car park in Golspie and followed the Walk Highlands route to reach the Mannie in about 1hr.
Weather was bright and sunny though got a bit chilly on reaching the monument. Had a brief stop for lunch then headed over to Beinn Lunndaidh. After following the path over the top, I headed off west towards the summit. I had to climb a deer fence near the top of Ben Bhraggie as there didn't appear to be any gate or ladder. (I crossed at a corner where there was some additional bracing on the post)
The going was rough, pathless and wet in places but I managed to reach the trig point in just under and hour. There were good clear views in all directions and I sat for a while soaking it all in.
I retraced my steps, climbing the fence at the same place and returned to the summit of Ben Bhraggie. Just as I was congratulating myself that I had managed to keep my feet dry, I stepped in what looked like a solid pocket of snow and ended up in knee deep water.
After a short pause back at the Mannie to take in the views up and down the coast in the afternoon sunshine, 1 retraced my steps back down to the car park in Golspie
