The Cursed Corbett of Tyndrum
Date walked: 07/12/2013
Time taken: 3.5 hours
Ascent: 900m
This hill proved to be a sod back in March when Pigeon had to call a helicopter to get me off it as I took a heart attack 150 meters from the top. I vowed that it would be the first hill I did once i got the all clear from the Doc, true to my word, I got the all clear 10 days ago and a day on the hills was booked - Beinn Odhar was the target.
I had the gang in tow, think they all thought they were getting a free helicopter ride
We parked at the Greenwellie car park, got booted and suited and headed on our way, it was a bit damp, but light winds made it ok and it did not feel cold which was a plus.
We were not long into the walk when curse number two struck, Senga started to feel ill, faint and dizzy, he pulse showed her heart was racing more than it should have been, everyone had flash backs to March and it was decided the best thing would be for her to turn back, Christine went with her to make sure she was ok, the rest of us battled on.
Although we could not see anything due to poor visablity, the weather was fine and a lot better than the forecast had been predicted.
We soon hit a bit of a snow line, it was very thin and soft, so the walking was fine. The forecast had for a heavy snowfall the night before, this must not have happened, which was a relief.
The wind started to pick up here and temperatures dropped a bit.
We were soon on the top, Steve missed out on being in the photo as he was the nominated photographer and he duly took the team pic.
Well done to Pauline on completing her first hill, hopefully not her last
as is par for the course, once we were down and on way back to the cars, the cloud started to lift and soon we had a view of the top
