Little (& Ben) Wyvis in Winter

Munros: Ben Wyvis
Corbetts: Little Wyvis

Date walked: 26/02/2018

Time taken: 7.5 hours

Distance: 15km

Took the usual route up Ben Wyvis from the car park at Garbait to the summit trig. Backtracked to the sticky up post and headed SE towards height 817 before turning E towards the low area south of An Cabar. Then up the southern slopes of Tom Na Caillich and along the ridge to the summit of Little Wyvis. Then it was north off the hill to reconnect with the main path before the forest for a return to the car park.

Neither mountain is the most interesting, it has to be said, but winter conditions made both much more...fun...than the summer plod can be.

But - and this is the sole reason I am writing this - the views from the summit of Little Wyvis (rather than Ben Wyvis) are outstanding. You get a nearly 360 view of the north of Scotland from there with only Ben Wyvis blocking anything at all. Highly worth the walk if the weather is on your side (but probably not worth it if there is going to be no view!).
