ben more in the snow

Route: Ben More and Stob Binnein

Munros: Ben More

Date walked: 15/12/2015

Time taken: 6 hours

Ascent: 1000m

Having just purchased winter boots crampons+an ice axe i had been praying for snow to come!
My wish was granted and after a look at the ben more webcam i decided to give it a go!

i left glasgow at 0700 and was ready to go by 0900 :)

it was very drizzly and visibility wasn't superb but i head up the fire road to the beginning of the steepness!

snowy neighbours

I sat and studied my map whilst eating a bit of flapjack before hitting the slopes proper and set off after numerous sheep looking for a square go!

feel like you're being watched?

i set off and 2 words can sum up my experience before the snow line. boggy and steep! but it gets the heart going i guess!

i started to see more and more snow and started using my axe, visibility got worse but i had stopped raining at least.

tasty!

finally the time came, crampons!! :D

it felt great and i was going a good pace, the novelty was more than enough to make up for the view

things were getting steep!

i eventually hit a nice scramble which allowed to me to get right in with my new equipment and was very invigorating, i even found a nice point to FaceTime my dad which he appreciated(and i was happy for the break).

i then stumbled upon a path and there were footsteps! i followed for a short while then heard a distance shout of "YASS!" - that'll be the top then! haha!

A very windy and icy top!

I set off down following some deep snow for a wee play and explored the mountain a bit, why not eh?
then it was back to the car with a big smile on my face.

I could get used to this winter carry on!
