Lovely walk, starts gently along the loch shore to Benmore Lodge then gently up the riverside to where it forks & the little footbridge. Handrail the left fork on the track. After around 4 miles the track becomes a faint path which leaves the riverside and starts to climb the hillside to your right, the bealach you are heading for is the lowest notch on the left of Connival. Eventually a decision must be made to head across to the hillsde climbing to the bealach, take a compass bearing to the track near the pass & go for it. Connival is a bonny mountain but the corrie in the back of Ben More Assynt is truely stunning. The climb up to the bealach is a bit of a slog but the views back to where you’ve come from are great. A short, fairly level, section brings you to the long downhill route to Inchnadamph, stunning views down to Loch Assynt. Take your time & care there are a few sections of very narrow path on very steep hillside.
Got down hoping for beer & food. Grrrr, Hotel closed for group booking, B&B/Hostel - hostel £29pn, has a small shop, - camped on the grass in the carpark at the hotel entrance, exactly where I got the bus back to Ullapool at 8am next morning.
