Dunbeath Strath Circular

Route: Dunbeath Strath

Date walked: 14/09/2019

Distance: 10.5km

I moved up here to Dunbeath last year and this is my local, go-to, walk. Living here, I admit to being a bit biased but I've done this walk (up to the cemetery) several times and I love it. It's not too strenuous or difficult and is a real pleasure. Everyone that comes to visit me has to do this at least once.

To make it a little more interesting and not just an "out and back" walk, take the path up to the Broch, walk around it and go through the kissing gate on the far side. Follow the path up to the road and turn left (the tarmac runs out pretty much immediately). Carry on through the first gate and follow the track up to the fence above the Prisoners leap. On the return go back down to the Strath at the bottom of the gorge.
