Ben Lomond
Route: Ben Lomond
Munros: Ben Lomond
Date walked: 14/07/2020
Time taken: 5 hours
Having followed the WH route previously, this time we decided to go up the Ptarmigan route and down the tourist path. The views are definitely better on the Ptarmigan route, although we found it surprisingly hard work as there are a few quite steep sections of decent length. I would recommend this direction, with the caveat that I found it physically more difficult. The descent down the tourist route was surprisingly pleasant, and the simpler path made both conversation and looking out at our surroundings so much easier as we didn't spend much time looking down at our feet!
Ben Lomond will always be a firm favourite of mine, mostly because of its accessibility: the path is near impossible to lose (compared to many other Munros) and there are many friendly faces around - you are unlikely to have the hill to yourself.
