Another of my regular walks - I highly recommend you do the road section out from Portpatrick first and return via the clifftop route which is just stunning. Head out of the Port up Main Street and take the left turn just after the sub station at the end of Heugh Rd. I follow this track past the cottages then turn left again towards Home Farm and take the right just after the car park. This cuts through a small woodland and brings you out on the drive way of Dunskey House. turn right and then left onto the road. Follow the road until you reach the sign for Killantrignan Lighthouse and the turn left and keep going until the cattlegrid before the lighthouse. Just on your right here are a few benches overlooking Killatringnan bay - a great place for a re fuel stop or just to admire the view.
Head back up towards the lighthouse taking the left turn by the gate signposted for Port Maggie cottage and follow the path from here back to the Port. it’s all waymarked and easy to follow. Get the road section out of the way first and enjoy the views on the way back to the village before enjoying a drink in the Crown.
