Drumcroy Hill
Sub 2000s: Drumcroy Hill
Date walked: 09/09/2020
Time taken: 2 hours
Distance: 5.8km
Ascent: 225m
We managed to get a couple of hours free from the wives whilst on a wee staycation at Tummel Valley Caravan Park. The ladies decided to go swimming so Craig and Myself found a wee local Sub 2000 to stretch the legs that was only a couple of mile up the road. Headed off from the park a couple of miles along the road and found a wee space suitable for one car just before Drumcroy Farm.
We headed back along the road toward Tummel Bridge for a couple of hundred yards then through the gate on the left and up the path that climbed steadily to the deer fence and large gate. There is a ladder stile to the left so once over this we headed up the steepish climb through the fire break. Once near the top the previously felled trees made it a bit of an obstacle course and it would be pretty easy to fall and get injured through this so we headed to the other side of the dry stane dyke via one of the gaps.
The dyke sloped all the way up to the wee summit cairn with the odd fallen tree to negotiate. a couple of hundred yards from the top was a strange concrete object similar to a trig or a cut down flag pole but unsure of its purpose. The top offered great views of Schiehallion and Beinn a Chuallaich.
We headed down this time folllowing the dyke down where it joins with a dyke head down to the right running parallel with the deer fence that led back to the gate. Once over the gate we had a wee spot of lunch before heading down the track to the car to meet the wives for a wee liquid refreshment
