Hi Everyone

Have been looking to get started on bagging Munro's for over a year now after my first experience doing Lochnagar but a combination of bad weather and bone-idleness have kept me from getting going.

This weekend forecast looked to be promising so me and a friend decided to attempt Mount Keen as it was the closest Munro to us and listed in the 10 easiest ones so I thought would make for a good introduction. (I was very wrong )

We made good progress up the track but then eventually the tracks split one seemingly going miles in the other direction and the other heading back down the way. We'd already put in a good bit of work by this point so we just decided to hug the fence that was going directly up the way and just take the more demanding steep route that looked like it had been made by a quad bike.

Not sure my calf's have ever felt burning like that before it wasn't too bad though as right next to the fence every 50 or 60 meters were what I believe were called shooting butts that's we could stop in and take a breather. Unfortunately half way up it the quad bike track and shooting buts both ended so we were clambering over rocks, bogs and heather the rest of the way.

To cut a long story short after our climb and reaching the peak we were heading back to the car and to guys came behind us on the track in a Land Rover basically just wanting to know what we were doing there and told us we hadn't even been climbing Mount Keen we were actually on the other side of the river from it. (the penny really should have dropped when we never seen the queens well.)

I was just wondering if anyone on here would have any idea of what we did climb if its even anything worth noting?

We took a side road off that I thought lead to the Glen Esk car park crossed a bridge and passed a sign for Keenie Farm. We passed a house and another bridge, the road got more and more rough and we eventually just parked the car in a field and continued on foot.


Any info would be greatly appreciated
