Ben Alder from Corrour/Loch Ossian
Route: Ben Alder and Beinn Bheòil from Culra
Munros: Beinn Bheoil, Ben Alder
Date walked: 27/08/2022
Time taken: 11 hours
Distance: 46km
We were staying in the Loch Ossian Youth Hostel last weekend and decided to head out for Ben Alder. Weather was great (apart from the midgies) so we set off early and biked round the loch - north side much easier for bikes. We managed to get about another mile up the valley towards Ben Alder - leaving our bikes at the sluice. The path from there is patchy - a bit of a trudge. After about 3km we forded the stream (easy this time of year) and headed up to meet the path at the Bealach Cumhann. From there the hillside was grassy so it was an easy walk to the summit. It took about 2 hours to get to Beinn Bheòil; then back to Bealach Breabog. There is a path from there to Ben Alder bothy (which was a lovely wee spot); then a great path to get us back to Bealach Cumhann and back to our bikes. It was a great walk/bike but took us about 11 hours - probably more of a summer route, but straightforward and recommended if you want to do Ben Alder from the Corrour side instead of Dalwhinnie.
