Perfect Day snowy run Feb 22

Munros: Schiehallion

Date walked: 19/02/2022

Time taken: 1.5 hours

Distance: 10km

Ascent: 726m

Amazing day. Zero wind, sunny, cold and snowy. Views of the whole of Scotland.

This was a solo run (although mostly walked up) with small day bag, water and chocolate.

Only problem was finding the path under an average 6 inches of snow - easy lower down where the path was made by others and gratefully run in, much harder higher up where the snow was less deep and multiple paths or where it had drifted to three feet deep. No crampons or ice axe needed but poles might have been useful.

Zero degrees lower down maybe -3 or -4 on the top but without any wind felt positively balmy. (I had a failed attempt in 2016 with children due to very high winds)

About 20 people on the mountain so not busy at all.

Overall fun and great privilege
