Myself and three others set out to climb Bla Bheinn at around 10am on a sunny October morning. I am a very inexperienced hillwalker although I managed to summit this fantastic mountain with only slight difficulty. The path leaves the carpark and goes back on to the road rather confusingly, then begins to slowly ascend towards the base of the Ben. The path is fairly narrow but well worn and very clear, following alongside Allt na Dunaiche until the beginnings of the steeper part of the walk. It probably took about an hour to reach this part and was fairly simple. The second part of the trail consists of a moderately steep section of wide rocky path alongside a gully before reaching Coire Uagneich. This part took about an hour also, although I personally needed to take a few breaks as my fellow climbers were a lot more conditioned to the hills! We took a well deserved food break at the Corrie before beginning the hardest part of the walk. At first there is just minor scrambling and a faint path. Aim to go to the right hang side of the Corrie for this part and you will find the path relatively easily. The path then began to get slightly steeper with looser rocks. We chose to avoid the scree slope and instead scale the small rocky, grassy crags with little difficulty. After here the terrain turns mainly to rocks and gives a short break before reaching the final pull up on to the summit plain. This section was rather difficult for myself, and rather daunting as there was no path to be seen and the most knowledgable among us wasn't 100 percent sure either, but we met another group who told us we were on the right path. Follow the large rocks until you reach a near vertical cliff face cleft by a large passage of boulders, over which you must pull yourself - this was the most difficult bit as it was closer to actual climbing than scrambling, but it was safe enough as it was not exposed at all. After this there is one short pull up to the summit. The views certainly do no disappoint, the Cuilin ridge was absolutely glorious, so too the views down Glen Sligachan and the red cuillin. You could see all the way over to the uists, harris, tiree, treshnish isles, small isles round to Argyll and the peninsulas of lochaber. We could make out Ben Nevis then up to the five sisters and the forken ridge then right up to the torridon hills. I would highly recommend this for beginners looking to get an astonishing feel of accomplishment, and the experienced alike! Fantastic walk
