Unexpected spectacular skies from... Stirling Castle hill?!

After two weeks on Skye it was time to head back to Glasgow to fly home. I had a bit of time, so decided to stop for a night or two in Stirling on my way. I arrived early evening and despite the threat of rain went out for an evening stroll up castle hill. I entered the grounds of Holy Rud castle and wandered around the old kirk yard for a while (there are signs up not to enter between the graves as they have proven very unstable, so I stuck to the lanes). All was quiet. A soft glow at the top of the hill drew me further up towards the castle, where I found the car park in front of the castle all but deserted. As I climbed the battlement left of the castle moat, my breath caught at the view that spread out in front of me. What lucky timing! Dark clouds playing with soft sunlight across the fields below.
Only a short stroll, but it brought joy to my heart! I hope you will enjoy the pictures below as well.
