Discovering wee hill with the wee one
Sub 2000s: Lendrick Hill
Date walked: 13/02/2023
Time taken: 2 hours
Distance: 5km
Ascent: 270m
I'm currently 3 months post partum, previously my partner and I were out on multi day trek's bagging as many hills as we could find. I have enjoyed the new challenge of finding wee hills to introduce my daughter to the joys of the outdoors. I her short life she has climbed Dumyat×2, Ben A'an, Torlum hill and now Lendrick hill. We really are so lucky to live in a country were the outdoors are so accessible to all levels.
The start of the walk has a good place to park off the road. Through the gate we followed the forestry path along the deer fence. The dog enjoyed the opportunity to get off the lead too on a sheep free walk. The first section of the walk had better views than expected, west towards the Ochils as the lower section of tree's had been felled.
Shortly after the zigzag in the track we came across a couple of fire breaks with signposted arrows to the top. We opted to walk past this and walk up the fourth fire break as it provided the most direct route to the top. It was steep but short going.
There is a small sheep fence at the top that is easily jumped. After this the walk levels out and it's an easy accent over grassy terrain to the summit cairn.
The trig point about 20 m away had fantastic views to the west and towards Loch leven.
We then walked back to the summit cairn and decided to descend in the NE direction following the well trodden and signposted path into the forest. There was a small stile to negotiate and a little but but it wasn't very steep and was easily navigated back to the main path.
