- Ideal day out: I've recently become interested in SOTA, which stands for Summits On The Air after being a long-time hill walker. This involves climbing to the top of mountains and operating portable radio equipment. Contacts with other European countries are common and North America is possible. But enjoying the hills and the plants and animals on them is what it is all about. The radio is just another excuse to get out.
