BEINN CHABHAIR

Route: Beinn Chabhair, from Inverarnan

Munros: Beinn Chabhair

Date walked: 08/11/2009

Time taken: 6 hours

Well, what an amazing day it was on Sunday for walking!! Woke up to frost everywhere but could see the Ochils as clear as a bell, was super excited!
Headed up to Inverarnan getting there about 11am where I set off from the Drovers Inn carpark. (Once I figure out how to download photos from my phone, will post them up).
Anyway, set off on my own armed with my route description off this site (these are invaluable!). Well it was quite a slog up the first section, and as I haven't been out walking in a while I was puffing and panting like well something that puffs and pants a lot. This has got to be one of the boggiest walks I have ever done, lost my foot quite a few times and managed to fall a few times as well, but it all adds to the fun I suppose.
Following the route description I was supposed to head off up a faint path before I came into view of the lochan but I just couldn't see it so I kept going along till I came to the lochan then headed off up to the ridge, I knew I should come to a path eventually. Generally I don't like it when I'm not on a path, especially when I'm on my own, but I had spotted a couple of people up on the ridge so aimed for them! Got up onto the ridge, amazing views all round, the sun was making the ice on the hill sides sparkle, it really was spectacular.
Caught up with the two blokes I had seen and chummed them up to the summit where the views were even more amazing. Then a bloke appeared up on the summit, he had just done An Casteil and the other one along the ridge, then had came down off those and straight up to where we were. After a quick look over the side we decided he was mental :D .
So we headed off back down the path I should have came up, it did get really faint near where I should have joined so I wasn't suprised I missed it. It really is a long slog into this hill and after a few more sinking into bog moments arrived back at the car park just as it got completely pitch black.
Really enjoyed this walk, the weather definately made it, it was perfect. Back to work and reality though :(
