I decided this was an epic challenge that i wanted to try and embark on and complete within a day. I decided that id have to try and run as much as possible.

I started at 4am from the Beinn Eighe car park at the foot of the east end of Liathach. The weather was initially claggy and i was nervous to attempt the liathach ridge traverse solo in bad conditions whilst trying to cover ground as fast as possible. it seemed like a recipe for disaster. Initial angst was compounded by falling asleep listening to radio 4 and running my car battery flat. But i ignored that and decided to crack on anyway.

I ascended to Spidean a' Choire Leith getting soem descent views over to the Beinn Eighe massif en route but the summit was claggy. I descended the wrong way of the summit and had to spend some time finding the route to the pinnacles. From here i ran through the cloud along the ridge line and up to Mullach an Rathain.

The next part of the walk was epic. I was nervous pioneering a descent off the western ridge-line to enable me to link up with the bottom of Beinn Alligin. descending out of he cloud the western ridge was bathed in morning light. Beinn Alligin was ahead with the whole of Loch Torridon glistening in front of me. The ground was easy to run on and the descent not steep. coming out of the clouds to that view was biblical and truly special.

The descent became very steep and very hard, difficult and dangerous down-climbing and tough terrain. this part took the longest time it took forever to get down and navigate the cliffs and terrain. However, not long i was ascending Beinn Alligin, a bit of a slog but not as bad as the Liathach ascent. The views from the summits where stunning. Simply amazing, the visibilty was great and i think the experience on the summits has made BA my favourite munro. I descend via the horns and this was becoming very tiring and slow going.

I eventually got down of Alligin and commenced the jog through the valley to the final ascent of Beinn Eighe. I had stunning view up the valley with Beinn Eighe in front and Liathach to my right. Liathach looked gargantuan from the valley.

At the foot of Beinn Eighe i was exhausted but the end was nigh, my camera and phone close to death. I hiked up to Ruadh-stac Mor and then onwards to Spidean Coire nan Clach. Visibility and light was deteriorating now and i was becoming aware that i would soon have to deal with the flat car battery. I eventually got down off Beinn Eighe and my watch had said id done around 4200m of elevation which i think was a function of getting lost a few times throughout the route, especially the first big mistake on Liathach. Making back to the car the Torridon stag was keeping a family amused as usual. I was able to enlist their help in bump starting the engine and getting the car going. The day was exhausting, beautiful, and sublime. The joys of doing it alone made it more risky and more rewarding and elevated the whole experience beyond that of normal munro bag. I was truly high on life for the day. A true hero would include Beinn Dearg but it was beyond me, i only managed a round of the 6 iconic Munros, the true round should include Dearg i think.
