Burntisland and The Binn.
Route: The Binn and Kinghorn Loch, from Burntisland
Date walked: 07/04/2015
Time taken: 4 hours
Distance: 6.14km
Ascent: 208m
Having lived on top of The Binn, in an old farmhouse, called Craigkelly House, as a teenager, I enjoy going back there at least once a year to make the climb. The farmhouse was less than twenty yards away from what is now the site of the Craigkelly Transmitter. This year my younger daughter, Sarah, accompanied me.
Whilst The Binn is not a very high climb, the view over the Firth of Forth is quite something. On a clear day you can see all the way to the Forth Road Bridge on one side (looking west), and looking east the view is of the Bass Rock.
Weather for 07/04/2015. Chilly start, cloudy, soon becoming warm, with long sunny spells.
