Castle Bharraich

Route: Caisteal Bharraich, Tongue

Date walked: 30/12/2020

Time taken: 1.83 hours

Distance: 5.2km

Ascent: 204m

There was enough snow on the main road to warn me off the less-gritted inland routes, so I played safe with a trip to Castle Varrich.

The snow on the track told me I was the third visitor of the day - one (wo)man and a dog had been there and back before me.

The castle is worth a visit or two, and has one of the best views of Tongue, plus a new viewing platform had been installed since I last went.

I took the opportunity to visit the hill behind the castle - no path but it turned out to be an easy route.

I think that's a bit of Meallan Liath in the clouds.
