Double munro in sun and snow

Route: Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlas

Munros: Beinn Ghlas, Ben Lawers

Date walked: 07/11/2017

Time taken: 5 hours

Distance: 10.5km

Myself and four pals left early Sunday morning to be at the foot of Beinn Ghlas for 9am. The views across the loch were beautiful from the car park as it was clear at that height. Beinn Ghlas was tough at parts near the top but not too taxing. The wind was fierce at some places and leading up to the summit we were pelted with sleet which stung our faces. At the top we didn't get much of a view but continued on along the ridge to the the top of Ben Lawers. This became a bit more tricky as there was frost lying on the grass and rocks and the wind continued unrelenting. Avoiding ice patches we made it to the summit at around 12pm. We couldn't stay up for long as the wind was so strong but managed to get some stunning views as the clouds cleared. Made it back to the car park by 2pm with a 20 minute lunch break on the way down Ben Lawers. We were very lucky with the conditions for the beginning of November and all had a great day!
