Wet but wonderful
Wainwrights: Gowbarrow Fell
Date walked: 02/06/2018
Time taken: 2 hours
Distance: 8km
Ascent: 500m
Wee trip to center parcs Penrith and great opportunity to do a route l have been advised was great - strider ridge up to Helvellyn, the 3rd highest peak in England. After 4 days of blazing sunshine in Scotland l awoke in the lake district to rain bouncing of the ground. Aforementioned route was canned, in favour of a loop around aira force and gowbarrow fell. The day turned out to get wetter, but the scenery a mix of waterfalls, a bit scrambling and and on the way down views of the lakes made up for it. Nice car park and toilets at the bottom. Lovely family jaunt and would recommend it to others.
