We headed out to Glenshee this morning with a view to climb all three Munros at the ski centre. Upon arrival, the tops were in cloud, so we had a coffee in the cafe before deciding that we would head up Carn Aosda to see if it would improve as the summit was starting to become visible.

We followed the path as per the walk description and at the blue Ca(i)rn Aosda sign, we headed for and reached the summit. After a few minutes of hiding from the wind behind the cairn, to our disappointment, the cloud became extremely thick - to the point where we couldn't see more than a few feet in front of us. We didn't feel comfortable in navigating our way along the ridge so decided that we would rather bag just the one Munro instead of stumble along the ridge to get another two and potentially causing a needless rescue. We have no problem navigating when we can see ahead of us, but aren't confident enough in conditions like this.

We made our way back to the blue sign and down alongside the ski run and it wasn't until we got about a third of the way down before we could see the ski centre again. Knowing we made the right decision and leaving two Munros for a sunnier day, we headed off to Pitlochry for an afternoon of being tourists.
