Attempted and failed

Route: Loch Eireagoraidh, near Mallaig

Date walked: 16/09/2020

Time taken: 4 hours

Distance: 9km

I attempted this walk and failed. In hindsight I should have taken more notice of the Bog Factor. It doesn't lie. It's incredibly boggy. To the point of being a bit hairy at times. My partner lost his footing on uneven ground and fell into a sink hole at one point and I ended up calf deep in a bog that was rather tricky to get out of. Be warned.

We also took a wrong turn fairly early on. The way markers aren't easy to spot. Once you pass through the metal gate be sure to head to the left, the way markers is hidden in the bushes. We accidentally walked along the side of the loch (which is a well trodden path) but it ultimately takes you on a much more confusing route. Having said that we did see a stunning waterfall.

After 2.5 hours of traipsing through bog which was incredibly hard to navigate, we got to the peak of the hill and decided to turn back. I'd like to try this again during a drier period and hope that the ground is more manageable. Keep safe on this one.
