Schiehallion - Munro No2 and In a rush too

Date walked: 10/11/2013

Time taken: 3 hours

Having just started my Munro adventure last week with a sunny but very windy walk up Ben Vorlich I had a plan, only conceived last night (after watching my football team lose a sure fire game) to make use of the nice weather on Sunday. The initial plan was to go to Ben Chonzie due to the limited time driving but this morning, having had a read of the reports for Schiehallion. the weather was too good to pass this opportunity up. Unfortunately this led to my one daft mistake being made, before I even left the house as well!!

I arrived at Braes of Foss car park just before 10:30, which had a number of vehicles already there. Having paid for parking I realised my daft mistake, with my day sack still sat in the living room rather than the boot of the car. Thankfully my packing style involves me carrying most of what I need on my person with spare kit in my ruck sack, with exception of my gaters and my camera. I wasn't missing the opportunity to capture the expected sights therefore I took my ipad, despite looking like a right wally.

The walk up the first half was undertaken in something of a stomp and a sulk but that soon lifted as I got towards the snow line. The views were outstanding and far too good to be grumpy. :D

On the way up I did find it easier to navigate by fellow walkers rather than my map and compass.

At the top there were half a dozen walkers enjoying the views and their lunch. Having soaked up the views I wrestled the ipad out of the jacket and feeling slightly foolish  managed a few photos.

After a few minutes of snapping away on an ipad where you can't see what you're taking it was time to head back down.

Safely back to the car 3 hrs 15 mins after setting off, the ruck sack was the one that missed out. Then off home, but not without first stopping for the inevitable tourist shot.

The day out was anything but
