This is my first report in all my time on walkhighlands and thought I would submit it after not being able to find a recent one.
I ventured over to Mull with a target of 6 hrs to get back in time for my return ferry (foot passenger) which I thought was doable; however, when I got to the turn off for Duart Castle when I realised I had passed my turning for the track.
By that time I was now panicking that I wouldnt make the timing for the ferry, I knew there was another but I was advised to book in advance for the booking I already had due to COVID restrictions.
Anyway- I was on a mission and headed up to the masts without a break or a look back but I was feeling I wasnt going to do it so stopped for a break and drunk in the views.
I did continue to see how far I could get and low and behold I got to the top in 3 hours .
At that point I was able to relax, take some photos and was in total awe of the mountainous views all around.
I started my descent back feeling chuffed with myself and at the same time annoyed that I pushed myself so hard on the way up but it was worth it.
I got back to the terminal with 30 minutes to spare where I finished the contents of my food sack secure in the knowledge I wasnt going to be left behind.
