Wonderful Day in Gorgeous Glen Lednock

Route: Kingarth and Funtulich circuit, Glen Lednock

Date walked: 26/07/2020

Time taken: 3 hours

Distance: 13.6km

Ascent: 251m

We combined this walk with part of the the Deil's Cauldron walk in reverse, eventually joining on to the described route after the footbridge in stage 1.
It made it a most memorable day out walking in this beautiful part of Perthshire. The Red Kite viewings were plentiful up on the farm before joing the minor road back down the glen to the start point.
It makes me want to go back and climb Crappich Hill now.

We started at the school car park in Comrie making our way up to the forest over the bridge past the small Catholic church, turning left here and heading up through the forest.
Once height was gained there and a couple of map checks en-route the views in all directions are stunning. Melville Monument very prominent.
The track heads through the forest and over in to the Glen where you join this route at thd end of stage 1.
Take care on the faint paths mentioned, overgrowth can be intimidating here and the river crossing would be very difficult if in spate.
The rest of the walk from there is really fine, through farm fields and using a very old road track up to Funtulich.

The Red Kite sightings around here were incredible, all the way back down the Glen to the described start point. Take binoculars with you if you can. We then rejoined the Deil's Cauldron path back down to Comrie.

We will certainly be back up to do this route again. It had everything.
