Winter Wonderland

Route: The Cobbler, Arrochar

Corbetts: The Cobbler

Date walked: 15/02/2014

Time taken: 6 hours

Hi there , i'm new to walkhighlands and have decided to write a wee report of my walk on the cobbler so here goes

Well after what seemed like ages ( as everyone will know weather of recent has been awful ) i noticed that there was to be a break in the weather at the weekend 15/2/14 and arrochar was looking the best so with little persuasion me and my mate peter had arranged to head up on saturday morning :D

After much deliberation on the time to set off lol we left the house at just after 9, By the time we had left dumbarton we noticed that it was looking like or luck was in as there was signs of some blue skys :D :D :D . So after quite a pleasant drive lol we had arrived at the car park just after 10ish and before we knew it we were ready to tackle the cobbler

As you leave the car park you cross the road and your straight into the pathway which leads to the cobbler, beinn narnain and beinn ime , This is the part the no one enjoys the dreaded zig zag path lol but in no time at all we had made it to the top where in its beauty the cobbler was now in view ( what a true delight it is ) and it want before long that we were into the snow which may i add was knee deep most of the time but waist deep in some part  . we arrived at the big boulders just below the cobbler and decided to stop for a wee photo opportunity and a drink :D

it wasnt long before the hard work really started as we made or way towards center gully, battling again gale force winds severe spin drift and knee deep snow we kept slogging away till we reached cockstone gully where we both decided it was time for a well earned break    sheltered from a big rock we had a hot drink and took some more snaps :)

as we where having our break we noticed that the weather and visibility was changing so we decided to crack on and see how we get on  after abt 20 more mins we made the choice that the conditions were too bad and made a hasty retreat back the way we had came with a few bum sliding opportunity's we where back on the path and on our way back to the car with a nice stroll we finally reached the car and where on our way home although we never made the summit on this occasion we both had a blast and so much fun on this wonderful mountain and we will be back again
