Stob Coire Sgriodain and Chno Dearg
Route: Chno Dearg and Stob Coire Sgriodain
Munros: Chno Dearg, Stob Coire Sgriodain
Date walked: 16/05/2013
Time taken: 5 hours
Distance: 13km
This is my first post so here goes
I decided to get a couple of cheeky hills in to up my fitness levels before meeting up with a few pals for Ben Lui next week. Having read the other reviews decided on the double hit of Stob Coire Sgriodain and Chno Dearg.
Got to the Fersit car park just after nine after a few hours on the road. Geared up and set off a few minutes before two other walkers followed on. Good weather at this time so just the fleece and gaiters to overcome the bog factor.
Past the barking dog and the farmer hanging out of his back door! The cows were all feeding just past the big barn with their calves, so I gave them a wide berth.
Up the slog to sron na Garbh bheinne with snow flurries and a couple of rainbows to boot.
On up to the summit of Stob Coire Sgriodain and time for a wee celebratory snack and a pose.
The views were great when the weather allowed on the way to Chno Dearg. Easy climb over after the morning slog.
After another refuel, started heading directly back to the farm at the start with the wind and snow on my back. Met another walker on the way up heading into the weather. Ten minutes later he was back in the sunshine!
Bog city all the way down. All in all, a great days walking.
