Warning. Documented route not possible

Route: Ganavan Sands and Dunstaffnage Castle

Date walked: 23/06/2022

Distance: 7.75km

Warning - original route of walk now not possible.

The walk started well until stage 3 - “aim towards the shire on a faint path to the left”. We were faced with a “Berlin wall” of fencing around a new housing estate being built. We decided not to head for the shore since the fence seemed to go all the way to the shore and we didn’t want to have to walk though boggy ground there and then have to retrace our path if we found we couldn’t get through! We followed the fence line instead towards the existing older housing estate - the ground was pretty boggy! We eventually found our way onto the cycle path which is the return route for the walk and onto the castle via roads.

Such a shame! This walk is t really enjoyable anymore. Walking through bog to a housing estate isn’t the same as walking on the shore! I don’t know whether the shore path will be walkable when the building has been completed?
