Buichaille Etive Mor - Diageo Munro Challenge Training

Route: Buachaille Etive Mòr

Munros: Stob Dearg (Buachaille Etive Mòr), Stob na Bròige (Buachaille Etive Mòr)

Date walked: 06/08/2018

Time taken: 7.5 hours

Distance: 17.6km

John and myself took on the Buichaille as training for the Diageo ISC Munro Challenge, 50 of Diageo's craziest employees will be taking on 3 munros located at 3 Diageo Distilleries across Scotland, in 40 hours.

We took the classic route from Altnafeadh, the cloud was coming and going so we were optimistic it would lift to reward us with a cracking view down to Glencoe - unfortunately not. We did thoroughly enjoy the ridge and the many peaks along it. The scramble out was particularly enjoyable with a wee swim at the bottom as a reward before heading back to the car.

We met 3 ladies one of whom was on her 100th and 101st munro of the year! Impressive effort! One of the ladies (Theresa) very kindly gave us a donation towards our chosen charity for the challenge - the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation chosen for it's meaning to us as they have been a very supportive charity to our friend and colleague Joanna Marshall whilst she battled lung cancer. Unfortunately Jo lost that battle at age 41 despite never smoking a day in her life in July making this challenge extra special to us as we try and do her proud.

Thank you to the ladies for their donation it made the day even better (if that's possible).

For more information on Jo a truly marvellous, inspirational and wonderfully bonkers lady please search "Niall Walker 2 Just Giving" on Google.
