Affric Kintail Way
Date walked: 11/03/2017
Time taken: 2 days
Distance: 71km
Ascent: 1597m
Finished work on the Friday afternoon and got the 17.40 Citylink Gold bus from Glasgow to Inverness and got a cheap B&B in the town centre. Up early next morning to catch the 7.28 bus to Drumnadrochit and started the walk at 8am.
Day 1 - Drumnadrochit to River Affric Car Park, 25.75 miles Saturday 11 March 2017
Headed uphill out of Cannich and into the forest again for a long walk to Dog Falls.
Up and off again through the forest once again but closer to the water so giving better views but I didn't take any pictures until I reached the end of the loch and my camp spot for the night.
Day 2 - River Affric Car Park to Morvich, 19 miles followed by 2.5 miles to Shiel Bridge, Sunday 12 March 2017
Got up just before 6am after a very quiet and peaceful night and got set off just before 6.30.
Walked on out to Shiel Bridge Bus Shelter to get the 16.49 bus back to Glasgow. Should have arrived back at 22.13 but there was an accident in Glencoe and the traffic was stopped in both directions for 2 hours and 40 minutes. Got back to Glasgow just before 1am and my daughter picked me up.
My first time on this walk although I had walked from Alltbeithe to Morvich before about 10 years ago on a version of the Cape Wrath Trail. Overall it was a very nice spring weekend and very very mild. I did speak to an old gent in Cannich who said that he couldn't ever remember a winter as mild as this one.
