The 10th!

Munros: Ben Vorlich (Loch Lomond)

Date walked: 22/04/2011

Distance: 12.5km

Dear Friends
What a wonderful days we are having right now.The Sun is shinning, birds are singing and the hills are so inviting.
Today I went to Ben Vorlich (Ben Lomond).I did my 10th Munro! Nothing special I would say but I restrain. It was a special!
I did a different route after I did my homework. I started just before the transformer station on the left going up to Loch Sloy Reservoir. My etrex showed: N 56 14.763',W 004 40.527' in place where the water runs from the top.
The approach was chalenging, very steep in some parts but the ground was amazingly dry.I was very surprised by the conditions.I saw small paths and trails on the way to the top, but they were not used too often. People must be walking this way before-I thought! But when I reached the top, the space openned in front of my eyes and from here I could see all the way to the summit. This side was very enjoyable, more or less flat, very easy cruise besides the very steep climb at the beginning. From the ridge I could see people climbing the route the usual way. And I decided to go and joined the rest.
Reaching the summit of Ben Vorlich I was a bit confused which is the right point. But the photo I took at the point where my etrex indicated 946m. It was windy but visibility was good. Also I would like to thank Herz the Dutchman( sorry for spelling) for the great chat and Mary from Derbyshire I have met today. We all descended the old way.
