Five Sisters

Route: Five Sisters of Kintail

Munros: Sgùrr Fhuaran, Sgùrr na Càrnach, Sgùrr na Ciste Duibhe

Date walked: 29/08/2010

Distance: 15km

Walked the Five Sisters of Kintail Ridge on 29.08.2010 on my own.

Absolutely fabulous ridge, started in rain, cloud and wind, but halfway through it cleared giving way to amazing views.

The path down is indeed very boggy for quite a bit of distance.

Went up to Sgurr na Moraich and it was worth it. Best to trace your steps back to the col before you head down, but you could also take a bearing to the path and negotiate a steep hill down.

It was worth visiting the fifth sister for the views though I have to admit I went up there not because I am a "purist", but because I thought my friends who did the route earlier in the week did the same. It turned out I didn't have to, but definitely worth it.
