Hunda Walk
Route: Hunda island from Burray village
Date walked: 27/05/2019
Time taken: 3 hours
Distance: 12.75km
What a fantastic walk. Only one error in the description.....the walk is anti clockwise around the island NOT clockwise!
Everything was perfect and we were lucky with the weather. The views over the Mainland, Hoy and Scapa Flow were wonderful. We have been wanting to do this walk for a couple of years, but have been put off by the access issues. Access is absolutely fine for the new route. There are two gates to be climbed and one fence to step over, but no keep out notices anywhere.
Take a picnic and spend time...the views and wild life are amazing....the best place to linger is the Cairn Head.
Finish off with tea and cake at the community café at The Fossil Centre (Less than 5 minutes in the car) and the day is perfect.
