My friend Niall wanted to do a walk on Sunday so the choice for the weekend was Newtonmore or Feshie bridge. Decided on newtonmore as the weather looked marginally better.
Set off walking at 07:30 to a lovely calm day with blue skies. It stayed that way all the way through the bog and up the slopes of Carn Dearg. The mist and cloud rolled in as we arrived at the summit, still got some good views south.
A noticeable change in temperature at the top, made good progress towards Carn Sgulain. Nearly there when it started to snow and quickly got the waterproofs on. Got to the the second summit at 1200 and it was quite good views all round with slight wind. Back through the bog and up the next hill, again a great panoramic view at the top.
We could see the weather heading our way so didn't hang around long ,stopped at the little bothy for a nose about and then just headed for home. Back to the car for 1400 very muddy and damp.
A great walk even with a bit of snow and sleet, glad we picked these hills as the Feshie bridge hills were in cloud all day.
