7 Munros in 2 days
Munros: An Stùc, Beinn Ghlas, Ben Lawers, Meall a' Choire Lèith, Meall Corranaich, Meall Garbh (Ben Lawers), Meall Greigh
Date walked: 04/07/2013
Time taken: 12 hours
Distance: 29km
Ascent: 2400m
After enjoying the Tarmachen Ridge a few weeks before we decided to go back and complete the other 7 Munros in 2 outings. On the Saturday we went for the big 5 Garbh, Greigh, An Stuc,
Lawers and Ghlas. On the Thursday we returned to finish the easier Meall Corranaich and Meall a Choire Leith.
Unfortunately we never quite enjoyed the weather we had when we walked the Tarmachen Ridge but the challenge of completing the 5 was enough to motivate us regardless of the patchy weather.
We thought we were doing well until we were overtaken by 4 guys training for the Artemis Great Kindrocht Quadrathalon. 1.35 km swim over Loch Tay, 7 Munro's including the Tarmachen Ridge, 11km Kayak and a 54km bike ride to finish. The winning team manages to do this in 10 hours, wow. Although you start from a lower height I think starting from the Lawers hotel would always be my preference as I don't really like the wide path leading up to Ghlas and Lawers from the carpark.
I'm glad we completed it that way as we hummed and hawed for a few days prior to the walk.
Anyway we managed our 5 Munros in 7.5 hours whilst enjoying today's easier 2 Munros in a leisurely 4.5 hours. Today Morgan my daughter joined us to continue with her new hobby, ticking her 6th Munro since starting a couple of months ago.

Day 2 a much more leisurely day, very windy and wet to start but decent views.
