Schiehallion my 50th Munro
Route: Schiehallion

Time taken: 4 hours
Distance: 10km
Ascent: 731m
We set off from the carpark @ Brae's of Foss, a wee bit of a dreek day with poor vis to boot (forecast spot on} but @ least we managed to get out (first quarter of 2014 has been the worst ever) anyway being under the wing of the John Muir Trust the path is well maintained & straight forward, we started to encounter snow @ about 600m roughly about the same time we met a guy on the way down, we enquired what it was like @ the top only to be told " i dont know it was getting too windy & the visibility wasnt too good, therefore i did an about turn, i passed a guy taking shelter behind some rocks, so best of luck guys", not what we wanted to hear but onward & upward we went.
Shortly after this we met the chap in question, Ivor from Banff who decided to join us on our quest to the summit (strength in numbers & all that, plus he had a sat map, which would prove invaluable).
The going got a wee bit harder due to the snow getting deeper on our way to the top & the almost whiteout conditions not helping but soldier on we did & with about 100m to go the guys decided as this was to be my 50th Munro i should lead us to the cairn, a lovely gesture but not a wise decision as i stopped @ a poor looking cairn & decided thats not it & walked on by only to be called back by the others & told otherwise in my defence apparently the cairn was struck by lightning & half of it ended up disappearing down the rockface....honest!
We managed to get a few pix & a wee dram from Tam's hip flask to mark the occasion, not a great day weather ways but a wee stop off @ The Falls of Dochart Inn in Killin for a well deserved pint helped make this day a special one that will live on in the memory, the wee pub is heartily recommended & Ivor your a gentleman. i hope we cross paths again it was nice to meet you
