Ryovan Bothy to Nethybridge

Route: Ryvoan Pass - Glenmore to Nethy Bridge

Date walked: 21/06/2012

Time taken: 5 hours

Distance: 14.5km

Starting in Aviemore and using public transport I undertook this walk from Glenmore Lodge at 9.45 a.m. The path is wide and well laid out and is easy walking with a gradual climb up taking approx 90 minutes to the Green Loch where can take a breather at this beautiful sight, From here the boulder covered hill track which is well signposted arrives eventually at the Ryovan Bothy. The bothy is open and the surrounding views are breathtaking. From here the path which can be wet in places but is good underfoot meanders through the forest until reaching the R.S.P.B.Reserve H.Q.where there is a notice information board about the Area. The sign post here gives the direction and distance as 3 k. Following the path through the woods which is mucky in places is easy going and continues until reach " the Dell on the outskirts of Nethybridge. From here its a walk down the road to the village center where there are toilets an information board and picnic chairs beside the river. Walking to the end of the road and turning left a short walk takes you to the bus stance . There are plenty of buses running back to Aviemore from here.If using public transport this is the better route to take as the bus from Glenmore ends @5.30
